Illness and Medication

If your child is ill we ask that you keep them home. Care will be denied for the following reasons:

• Fever of 101 degrees or more
• Vomiting and or diarrhea
• Bad cold or cough
• Skin rash (excluding diaper rashes)
• Any contagious diseases (Pink Eye, Chicken Pox, Stomach Virus etc...)

If your child shows any of these symptoms or is on antibiotics they must be out of the center for 24 hours. There will be no exceptions to this policy. The staff will deny care if necessary. The staff reserves the right to deny care due to illness to protect everyone at the center.

If your child gets ill while at the center you will be notified immediately. It is your responsibility to pick up your child within 2 hours of the first phone call. If someone does not pick up the child within the 2-hour time frame, Monroe County Children and Youth will be called.

If your child requires medication while in our care we will gladly administer it for you. There are a few rules you must follow:

• The medication must be in the original container
• The medication must be signed in to the medication log
• The medicine must be handed to a staff person and not left in a lunch box or diaper bag.

We will not give cold medicines to anyone under 6 years of age!

These policies must be followed or we will not give the medicine to your child.

Arrival and Departure

Your child must be brought into the center and placed in the care of one of our staff members. Since we are state licensed it is important that you drop off and pick up your child at the scheduled times. This is so we can make sure we have enough staff available. If you need to change your times you must see the director to make sure space is available.

If someone other than yourself is picking up your child you need to notify the staff. The person must be on your emergency contact list and have valid photo i.d. Your child will not be released if they do not have photo i.d. or you do not tell us of the pick up change. There will be no exceptions! This is for your child’s safety!

If you pick up your child after our 6:00 pm closing you will receive a bill for $5.00 for every 5 minutes you are late.

Proper Clothing

We ask that you dress your child appropriately for the weather. We do take the children outside weather permitting. We ask that you do not send your child to school in any clothing that cannot get dirty or take abuse from playing. We do not permit the children to wear flip-flops, dress shoes and sandals. Please send them in sneakers. They will not be allowed on the play equipment without sneakers.

Playtime is not responsible for any damaged or lost items that your child brings into, the center.

Damaged Property

Any property damaged by misuse by your child will need to be replaced. You will be billed market value to replace the item. The director will determine misuse.

Toys From Home

Toys from home are not permitted. We will not be responsible for any toys brought from home. We do permit the children to bring in books or videos to share with the class.

Termination of Care

Termination of care must be written with 1-week notice. The center reserves the right to terminate care for the following reasons:

• One-week overdue tuition payment
• Refusal to adhere to the centers policies
• If your child does not adjust to the program
• If your child becomes a behavioral problem and the staff and parents cannot correct the problem.

Discipline

Sometimes during the course of the day a child might need to be disciplined. Here at Playtime we use every effort to redirect a child, however if sometimes this doesn’t work, we then use a time- out chair. The child sits 1 minute for every year of their age. If your child’s behavior becomes a problem we will discuss the problem with you. The staff makes every effort to work with your child.

Non - Discriminative Policy

Playtime Learning Center does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, religious creed, ethnic origin, handicap, national origin or economic status.
